Accommodation
Accommodation near Appuldurcombe House comes in all shapes and sizes. By the way, anything written like this is a link and clickable for you to book/look at. These options are in descending order from how far they are from the venue itself.
Cottages literally on the grounds of Appuldurcombe (for more information on these scroll down)
Static caravans and camping/motorhome pitches down the hill at Appuldurcombe Gardens Holiday Park, plus a few "lodges" and apartments
Cottage-type stuff at Cooks Castle Farm a bit further away (i.e. The Grain Store, The Hayloft, The Farriers and The Dairy), around 20 mins walk away from Appuldurcombe
Two apartments and a whole big house at Clevelands Country House, also 20-ish mins walk from Appuldurcombe
More cottages in the form of Dairy Barn, Manor Farm Cottage and Manor Bottom, but these are more like drives from the Big A, unless you feel like a 26 to 31-min walk
For hotels, B&Bs and (probably) more self-catering cottages, look at Ventnor to the south and Shanklin, both a 10 minute drive from Appuldurcombe
Actual hotels and B&Bs
Maybe you don't want to stay in a cottage. Maybe you like hotels. And that's ok.
If you like budget chain hotels, you'll have a choice of two brands. First up: Premier Inn. There are several branches of this scattered across the island.
🌙 Newport
🌙 Sandown (in a place called "Merrie Garden")
🌙 Sandown (on the seafront)
Then there's Travelodge. How fun. There are two of these.
☀️ Newport
☀️ Ryde (handy for a quick getaway on the Portsmouth ferry)
Nearer to Appuldurcombe is the town of Ventor. That's probably the nearest large human settlement. There are several options here for hotels, including The Wellington.
Maybe you'd perfer somewhere like Godshill, which is not far from Appuldurcombe. Here you'll find Koala Cottage, a 5-star B&B with prices to match.
Also, I know this section was explicitly billed as non-cottage accommodation, but Godshill Park Cottages deserves a mention. Worth a shot. It's situated on a track that runs between the village of Godshill and Appuldurcombe itself. Also at the same location is a "luxury B&B", Godshill Park Barn.
Then there's Rookley, which is also pretty close. In Rookley you can find The Lakes (a Hoseasons resort, would you believe it). That might be a decent vibe.
If you like your hotels with a more fancy vibe, or maybe not so fancy, here's a list of 29 Isle of Wight hotels ("the best", apparently) compiled by everyone's favourite newspaper, The Telegraph.
